These things are listed as a fun way for others to get to know me better and to illustrate my ongoing interest in taking advantage of the opportunities which have been placed before me in my life. It has been a wild ride so far!
Some of these things are personal, some educational, some spiritual, some physical, some trivial…and some are just downright random.
Life is full of accomplishment and learning experiences for all of us. Sometimes our "seeming failures" can be our "greatest achievements" because we can often learn so much more from them than our successes!

1977 to 1999
- Survived birth, despite being born on Friday the 13th with my umbilical cord being wrapped around my neck; 1977
- Started my first journal; Jun 1985
- Left my family at age 15 (temporarily) to take my first "real job" of picking pineapples on Maui; Jun-Dec 1992
- Received my driver's license; 1993
- Founded the first Snowboard Club at what was then Utah Valley Community College (UVCC) and which is now known as Utah Valley University (UVU); 1994
- Received the Eagle Scout rank from the Boy Scouts of America; 1995
- Visited my first LDS temple in Provo, Utah; 1997
- Served as a volunteer service missionary in New Jersey; Aug 1997-Aug 1999
2000 to 2008
- President of the BYU-Idaho Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) team, which won its regional competition and was recognized in the Top 20 nationally after competing against more than 125 other colleges and universities.
- Earned an associates degree in Interpersonal Communications in the last graduating class of Ricks College before it was re-named BYU-Idaho and graduated with honors; Jun 2001
- Offered full academic scholarships to both BYU-Hawaii and BYU-Provo; 2001
- Chose to accept the Makana Ike scholarship from BYU-Hawaii; 2001
- Met my future wife; 2001
- Married my sweetheart; Jan 2002
- Became a proud father when my son Mason was born; Dec 2002
- President of the BYU-Hawaii Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) team, which won its regional competition and was recognized in the Top 20 nationally after competing against more than 125 other colleges and universities.
- 1st Place winner of the BYU-Hawaii Business Plan Competition with my plan for Kama'aina Car Wash, a chain of local self-serve car washes; Jan 2003
- Earned a bachelor's degree in International Business Management from BYU-Hawaii and graduated with honors; Jul 2003
- Started my first post-college job managing family businesses; Jul 2003
- Survived category 5 Hurricane Ivan in Grand Cayman with my family; Sep 2004
- Performed post-disaster clean-up efforts after Hurricane Ivan; Oct-Dec 2004
- Walked away from a near fatal 70 mph motorcycle accident with only a broken rib; Jan 2005
- Became a prouder father when my daughter Maile was born; Mar 2005
2009
- Participated as a judge in the BYU-Hawaii business plan competition; Mar
- Became a prouder-er father when my daughter Malia was born; Jun
- Completed my first 10k as part of Provo, Utah''s annual Freedom Festival Fun Run; Jul
- Set a new Personal Record (PR) on the 10k after finishing Utah's Toughest 10k in Midway, Utah; Sep
2010
- Accepted into the 2010-2012 MBA program at Utah Valley University; Mar
- Organized a 12-person Redrock Relay team; Apr
- Shared the joy of helping Maile learn how to ride her bike; May
- Received a 2010 athletic sponsorship from Team Marathon Bar; May
- Finished 5th place overall and 2nd place in my age group in the Bridal Veil Falls 10K held June 12, 2010 in Provo, UT. Overall time- 44:25:10. Average pace- 7:10/mile. A new PR.
- Completed Utah's Toughest 10K; July
- Completed the Provo River Half Marathon in 01:48; Aug
- Earned more than twice as much money in 2010 as I did in 2009. Now if I can just do that again in 2011!
- Paid off 4 debts in 2010 (a car, two credit cards and a student loan)
- Completed the first semester of my MBA program; Dec
2011
- Completed the second semester of my MBA program; Apr
- Doubled the size of my business in one month; Jul
- Completed the summer terms of my MBA program; Aug
- Earned MORE money in my p/t business than in my f/t day job; Aug-Nov
- Completed the third semester of my MBA program; Dec
- Paid off $35k in credit card debt this year; Dec
2012
- Committed to moving my family back to Hawaii in July 2012
- Started my 40 days of waking up at 5am to install a new habit; Jan
