1977-1987

I was born in Payson, Utah with my umbilical cord wrapped around my neck. My face looked a little purple and I didn’t appear to be breathing. What else would you expect to happen on Friday the 13th? It is no wonder that “13″ has been my lucky number ever since!

The first six years of my life were spent living in Mapleton, Utah. My family’s house was on the east bench overlooking the valley to the west, on a large piece of land we called “Murdock Mountain” due to its characteristic elevation in the area.

I don’t remember much about my time living in Mapleton. A few of my early and important memories include: Playing with my four older siblings…and younger ones as they came along; Watching Smurfs, GI Joe, Transformers and Tom & Jerry on TV in the morning; Getting my first pair of coke-bottle glasses at age five; Playing outside in the snow; The flooding of Utah Valley in the early 80’s; Christmas morning; My first kiss behind the oven with my Kindergarten crush; Family trips; The big move to Lake Arrowhead, California.
